I baught a XFX 7900GT 256Mb recently, using 91.xx drivers, I overclocked it when I first got it with no problem. recently though, I've been getting graphical issues in games (CSS), and when I come out of them it constatly flicks black, and then back to image ( like its trying to change the resolution or something). I'm just curious, have these 7900GT's had problems? My temps are 44c Idle 54 Load, seem fine to me... Just I can't overclock my GFX now and its really irrating me since Im a ocing whore :p... Can anyone help or give me things to try?

Thank you,
RameY.

[Edit: Bah, sorry for double post forgot about editing first post. :( ]

And another one bites the dust!

Its a common thing with all the 7900s mate. Is it ok at stock?

Try running 3dmark 06 and if its the same issue as most (including one of mine) it will artifact during the deep freeze test.

*Cries*...

I'm not actually sure if it artifacts at the deep freeze test. I'll go install 3DMark06 now, I had to format windows a few times. Uhh...

The following question you are about to receive may shock you.

Wtf does RMA stand for? And would I beable to do it in this case? :x

return material authorisation- or someting to that effect

Technically you voided the warrenty when you overclcoked it but afaik there is now way for a company to find out so you should be ok.

Befor you RMA make sure its definately knackered. ie try re installing drivers, check airflow and on another system if possible.

Let us know how you get on with 3dmark 06?

Thanks for the speedy reply. I just done the 3Dmark06 test. I looked carefully at the Deep Freeze test, and no artifacts were to be found. Its not oced at all at he moment, so it could be okay on stock?

By the way, thank you loads for being so helpful. ;)

[Edit: Actually, for some reason, I must have set it to auto overclock in coolbits. Weird, I have no idea what it does "automatically", would it just change the core clock and memory clock in real time according to how much the application is demanding from it?]

Yep i think thats what it does as i've never overclocked my 7900s

If your cards running ok at stock then its probably fine maybe you just overclocked too much :)

If i were you I would leave it at stock for a few days and make sure everything runs ok.

what 3dmark score did ya get?

3919 :p . Nothing Overclocked and had a few backround apps running, wasn't anything extreme I was looking for anyway :D, I'm just happy that my card isnt totally gone. Should I take it off Auto Overclock or leave it on? Not sure what to do at all ^__^
