7900GT or 7900GS?

I currently upgrading my graphics card from a 6800GT and not sure whichcard ering which was the better of these 2 cards to get, considering theres not much difference on price anyway?

256MB XFX 7900GT Extreme, PCI-E (x16), Mem 1500 MHz, GPU 520 MHz, 24 Pipes, Dual DVI-I/HDTV VIVO

or

256MB XFX 7900GS XXX, PCI-E (x16), Mem 1600 MHz, GPU 600 MHz, 20 Pipes, Dual DVI/HDTV

Well the 7900GT cards, especially the overclocked ones had major reliability problem so out of the two you suggest id go for the 7900GS.

However id also consider the 2nd habd market as an X1800XT can be had for under £100 and is generally faster than either of the 7900 cards.

Another option is a used 7800GTX as its pretty much the same speed as a 7900GT but without the reliability issues.

However if you wait a month the 8600Ultra/GT will be out which could be quicker than all of them

If you can stretch to £200 then get an 8800GTS 320Mb on the 12th

Best option tbh. The Gainward ones should be even less (circa £180)

The reliability problems effect the 7900GS as well. I'm on my second one. Though I suppose that could just maybe be bad luck! Though I think not from what I've read on the WEB.
