7900GTO Prices?

Entirely possible, now Gibbo says that they have extra units of the 8800 GTX and GTS from BFG (and so they won't run out of their initial allocation).

It will probably be a few days before they know if the arrival of the 8800 cards has had a significant negative effect on the DX9 cards. Its not a fait a compli by any stretch, as the cheapest 8800, the GTS, is still going to be about twice the price of a GTO.
 
Doesn't matter if they do drop in price, DX9 cards are not worth buying now, utterly pointless as new gen is 6 days away, trust me, when they spot this thread, you'll know why its pointless.
 
Why are dx9 cards not even worth buying anymore?

Surely if someone's not in a position to spend £400+ on a brand new top of the range card, a £150 7900 or ATI equivalent will give decent frame rates on pretty much all games for the next year or two surely?
 
^^ I agree, thats why i got the GTO, DX10 wont be kicking off anytime soon with the exception of crysis! Maybe this time next year i may go for one, pending releases.

Nothing unusual in that.

That it says the FIRST of April raises a small suggestion of a joke, but unliekly as you can't pull APril Fools jokes ahead of the date :)
 
...it doesn't say it's been delayed till' 2008. As you say, the fiscal year begins on April 1st 2007. As you may notice, more of the 2008 fiscal year is in 2007 than 2008.
 
people who can afford next gen cards, by all means go ahead but im not even thinking of going dx10 for another year becuase;

A) what games currenty support DX10 - it would be like buying a car and haveing no license/insurance (to a certain extent)

B) becuase they cost an arm, a leg and both kidneys - money i dont have and dont feel the need to spend just yet!

no way im spending 400 quid on a single peice of hardware and 6 months down the line for it to be old hat. jeez i could build another entry level c2d system for that money.

DX9 will do me just fine for another year. ill buy a DX10 card when i can put use to it... and afford a legal copy of Vista (there goes the other arm and leg)
