Ok i recently got a new 7900GTO back from rma (sorry wasnt from ocuk :o ), now the old one died on me, but when i first got it overclocked it of cource, but game menus would mess up i suppose the only way to describe it would to say the screen went out of sync if that makes sence, and i would have to tab back out and back in for it to come up, now its really frustrating when it happens on loading etc on online games lol, and now its started again on my new card :eek: the only thing ive dont differently is OC using rivatuner, was at like 700 clock and 1.5ish mem i think, so i uninstalled rivatuner and clocked t 670 clock and 1.4 mem using coolbits and so far it hasnt done it again, any ideas?
 
Maybe you card doesn't like being overclocked. Does is happen on stock clocks?? Not all cards are gauranteed to overclock.
 
There are some 7900 cards which have dodgy memory timings after clocking -
Often its not safe to clock the memory to its limits as permanent damage can occur.
These cards gpu cores clock very well but if u clock the mem higher than 1400 u do it at your own risk.
 
:( damn how unlucky am i lol 2 bad cards, yea the 815 mem on the old card might what have killed it :O so ill keep my mem at 1400 and just crank up the core, ill put it back on watercooling then seeing as i cant crank the mem up anymore :( lol
 
yea certainly worth a try, i have the bios files at home but never had the courage to do it lol, if it fails again and i screwed for getting it RMA'd?

Just don't tell them you flashed it, I don't think they can find out :cool:
 
like i said in the other thread iam also on my 2nd card but havent tried it yet because my PSU is in RMA

my 1st card was all @ stock and it died after 2 days with screen corruption
after running 3dmark 2006 a couple of times.

its an intermittent problem in my case as it happend at random times
bios, windows, 3mark2006, 10mins in, half an hour in, 3 hours in etc


i think these cards have very dodgy memory onboard thats why there downclocked, MSI had a load of GTX so they just turned the
memory down a tad and came out with markting BS that there now GTO,
hoping they wouldn't fail within the warranty period.
 
Damn lol, well my current card ive had back for less than 2 weeks now, my original was few months old but i was OCing that using the ati tools, this card was using rivatuner think ill stick to coolbits on these cards, ill keep it at safe clocks untill i need a dx10 card :p and if i get bored this weekend i might flash it lol
