hi this is more for a friend than for me but just a quick question. He has 2 vga monitors and is trying to get dual display using 1 of those dvi>vga adapters. Ive seen somewhere (cant remember where) that there might be a problem using dual display with those adapters can anyone clarify? basically his problem is that the second monitor never displays when plugged in e.g you put either monitor in either port first and it will work fine, 2nd 1 gets no display. Obviously we checked drivers etc infact hes even had the card replaced to make sure its not that. Since both monitors and both adapters do work im thinking it might be a compatibility issues, any thoughts?

have you gone into diplay properties and clicked on the second monitor

click the little box thats sayes extend my desktop onto this monitor and it will extend the desktop

if you want clone i will have to look up how to do that

yes and it still displays nothing when you do that, its always the 2nd monitor plugged in that has the issue. Ive used dual display myself in the past so i know it shouldnt be this hard

hmm have you tried doing this in the graphics program,
they normally come with a program to change profiles and display properties.

i am stumped aswell on this one.

yea i think it was called nview or something, we messed about trying to created cloned and extended display profiles etc but nothing came of it. I dont have the computer here to say exactly what we done but i dont think its down to our settings..could be wrong but doubt it

could be a faulty card but it might not be,

im not an expert on dual displays but does it matter if the one monitor is plugged into either slot??

like will it still work if i plugged a monitor into the second dvi slot rater than the first one??

i have an old ati radeon and it has a svideo output

have you tried that??

i know its not gonna make the monitor work but it might allow extended desktop to work

sorry i cant be much help

both monitors are vga only so the only way to use them with this card is with a dvi>vga adapter, they dont have any other ports on them. The card has been replaced so i doubt its a fault with the card as such unless we got another dud with the same problem

personaly i dont know

do you have a dvi monitor you could lend him or borrow one to try it out

i dont see why it wont work cos all its doing is chaning the digital output to analogue
