7900gtx to...

Hi

I am thinking of upgrading my rig as per sig..

One question I have is what gpu to go for..

Currently have 7900gtx , would you suggest a 8800gtx or to wait?

I game at 1280 x 1024...which may later change to 1900 x 1200...

8800GT/GTS 512 would be fine for that res.

8800GT - even at 1920x its adequate in most (but not all) games... if you are certain you are upgrading to 1920x res down the line then maybe the 8800GTX... personally I'd rather buy a cheap card now and save the money towards a 9900 series card in the second half of the year.

if going to 1900x1200+ then get 2 8800 GTX, don't jump and get the latest NVIDIA cards (9 series) as these are just revised 8800 models.


BFG 8800 GTX OC2 is about £200 inc VAT at the mo from OcUK

I tend to agree with skippo here... that card is still the best card when it comes to very high resolutions...

If your going for a whole new system and want to seriously game at 1920x then you really need either a GX2 or 8800GTX SLI...

Otherwise it would be wasted on your current spec as you just don't have the CPU power.
