7950 + 280 crossfire?

Just need to double check that i can crossfire a hd 7950 with a r9 280 before i buy? They are the same card?

7970=280x, but yes, you can crossfire your 7950 with one

Cool. I know my corsair tx850 will be ok but how much performance hit will i take only having a 2500K @4.6? if it is only 10-15% i can live with that,as i don't want to change cpu at the moment!

Your CPU will be more than fine.
