Hi,

So I went for the BIOS update to get the turbo boost on my (what I thought was a reference HIS H795F3G2M)

But it failed. So I'm now on the BIOS switch 2..

I was cautious enough to make a backup of my BIOS using GPU-Z, and I now have a file called Tahiti.rom, sitting on my desktop.

But how do I restore that to the BIOS 1 switch postion? Cos if I put the switch on 1, I can't even boot up. The screen won't come on.

Advice appreciated.

You have to do it through MSDos, i don't know how off the top of my head and have no time to research it right now, unless someone else helps you with it before,- i will look tomorrow.

Its a good job AMD reference PCB cards come with a dual BIOS, and mine isn't reference.... wawawaaaaa... no BIOS flashing for me :(

Google isn't coming up with much.. I'll try on rage3d

Don't know how i can do from MSDos, if i can;t see msdos from switch positon 1... I guess its not the end of the world, i'll just have to live with it on position 2 worst comes to the worst.

you have to use a rescue card or the IGPU to get the screen going and then direct the flash at the bricked BIOS.

Thanks I'll have a play with it later. I've managed to find atiflash.exe online, so i'll have a play.

Admitedly, i did try a little while ago using the iGPU, with the switch set to 1, and still no boot.. However i didn't change any bios settings.

I do have another 7950 in my PC upstairs, that i could x-fire, but i think i'd be too paranoid flashing that by accident instead of the bad one.

Right now, i'm leaving it on switch pos 2 and gonna enjoy the card, and worry about it a little later... Yeah we'll see how long that's gonna last !!! :D

ok, just sharing this info for others who get into the same pickle as me... its as easy as booting into the O/S while in position 2, flicking into position 1 then running ATI Winflash... even though i know this useful info.. There's absolutely no way i'm going into my pc right this sec.. 6 pints of larger deem it not a good idea this eve. ! I've been down that road before, and it never ends well. hic. I can live with it in position 2 until tomorrow !
