Folks, I have the aforementioned Graphics card with a Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz.

I was thinking of getting another 7950. So my first question is:

1. Does it need to be exactly the same make/model? Or could I get any 7950 and crossfire it?

Secondly: Am i better off getting a new generation GFX card instead of another 7950?

FYI I am planning a 3 monitor setup, in terms of video inputs, would I need 2 GFX cards or could I do it from one? (say 2 HDMI and 1 something else?).

Thanks for your help folks.

1. Any 7950 will do

2. Two 7950's will be faster than hawaii, so that's what i'd opt for, although you may get microstutter

3. You might be able to get away with the outputs from one card if it has enough

As a side note, if its for a 3 monitor gaming rig, id look at changing your cpu for something newer before adding another 7950 :)

Concerning your last comment, will the Q6600 be a bottleneck? I mean at the moment games run pretty smooth and cant complain?
(To be honest I can do without changing motherboard, RAM, and CPU at this stage).

i'd say its already holding your 7950 back, itll be even worse with another, but im no expert.

you could get another 7950 and see what happens, then update the rest later.

it might be best to post in the cpu forum to get some more advice regarding how bad the bottleneck will be. :)
