My 7950 had a display issue in September with block lines artifacts in a grid fashion. Pic below. Rebooting the computer didn't fix the problem. Turning it off for one minute didn't fix it either. However after turning the computer off for one hour, the problem went away.

Two months later, the problem came back. But this time turning the computer off for an hour, or even overnight did not work.

At low res (safe mode), the same horizontal lines appear. Note that the colour difference is because I used a black background in the first pic. In this pic a white background is used.

Hi res looks much worse.

Looking at the pics in the graphic cards troubleshooting post, it seems that perhaps a RAM chip has failed? The pictures do look a bit similar. In which case I guess it is not repairable.

It is strange that the problem went away for two months after the first time it occurred though.

Anyway, I have already bought a replacement graphics card from Overclockers. I just wanted to get peoples thoughts before taking the card to the electronics disposal facility. Thanks for reading!

That does look very much like a memory issue. If you have access to a hot air gun it's sometimes worth giving the RAM a good heat up, occasionally the root problem is a cracked solder bump that will get the card working again - sometimes permanently, sometimes not.
