Just dropped a 7950 in my system and went to download drivers, the amd site is picking up my card as a R9 2XX and is giving me drivers for an R9 2XX is that ok or should i manually download hd7950 drivers
 
Yes, that should be fine. You can alternatively just download them manually. The 7950 has been re branded to a 2xx series.
