7950 memory speed

Hi guys,

I've got my vapor-x 7950 running stable at 1100/1500, allbeit hot :/ Airflow in my case is decidedly weak, so need to do something about that.

The VRM temps are farsical on this card, I've had it running over 100 degrees on some games. Apparently the vapor-x suffers badly with poor vram cooling.

Anyway - even on the desktop from initial boot my 2d clocks are 500/1500. The memory speed never drops like it should based on ULPS. (I haven't disabled ULPS that i'm aware of!)

Does anyone know why my memory speed would be stuck at 3d?

Hey guys, sorry for slow reply - yes i am using 2 monitors but neither is running at 144hz, or 120 for that matter. Both are a mere 60hz

oh and this has been a constant thing since the 12.xx catalysts. I am on the latest 13.5 beta 2 at the mo.

Is the 2 monitors likely to cause this?

I'm now seriously panicked re: the high vddc current, any ideas about that guys??

My overclock is done in afterburner, and I haven't activated/used ccc overclocking.

My vcore is set to 1.10v and the overclock is 1100 on core and 1500 on memory.

When i'm home from work I will go back to stock and see what it does, is it likely to be the overclock at fault?

Ok from a cold boot this is how the temps and vddc current look its high to begin with and is getting higher as I leave the machine on.....

will leave it for 10 mins to see what it gets to and post back. After that I'll revert to stock clocks and see what happens..

hmm ok so when I switch to single display I get the following, looks more normal (including the temps !):

Yeah I think I will. I'm debating whether or not to just run single monitor as the temps are far better in game and at idle.

I only use the 2nd monitor for a few things which I could always do without.. hmm decisions decisions..

Anyway just want to say thanks to all who have posted in this thread, really appreciate everyone's help

Thanks humbug, will double check it. I heard that flash set to hardware accel can cause some issues too.
