I recently built a new PC:

i5 3570K
Asus P8Z77-V Mobo
16 GB Ram

I’m now looking at getting a new graphics card. The options are:

Radeon HD 7950
Nvidia GTX 660ti SC

The 7950 is an older card but has more raw grunt
The 660ti is newer but seems to have memory bandwidth issues.

I would also be looking for one that will last the longest before having to be replaced.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Best option is the MSI TF3 7950 OCV2 on this week special at 239.99, it will smash the 660ti a new one when clocked

You already answered it yourself.

If you look through the forum a few pages, there has been plenty threads on the matter, with loads of opinions, read through them?

But in answer to your question, if your not tied into Nvidia 3D or wanting PhysX, the 7950 is the faster package.

The 7950 is already as fast or faster at stock (mostly dependent on the amount of AA used or the resolution) and with of overclocking its performance is more like in 670+ territory.

And the ages of the card is a bit of a miss-norm: they're both 28nm cards - just because Nvidia waited so long to bring out the 660ti doesn't make it 'newer' as such.
