Hey all,

I've decided its time to go back to a single gpu (Currently have 2x 5850 in crossfire) and am stuck as to which to get.

I figured that if I went for a 7950 I could get a 256gb ssd to put my games on as well as the gpu but then I'm wondering how much better the gtx 670 is than the 7950?

Anyone made a similar decision? If so could you tell me where you went and why?

Thanks

I already have one ssd for boot, just figured the games may feel more snappy from a ssd also!

Shall look at some 7950vs 7970 reviews :)

The 7950 is such a good price, even a sad Nvidia fanboi like me cant fail to see what a great bargain it is.

As a 7950 owner I would only get one if you intend overclocking it, even if just a moderate overclock. Its real value comes in its overclocking headroom. if you will just be running as stock i would get a 670, as they are a good bit faster out of the box.

I just dropped my cash on the MSI 7950 should be with me before noon tomorrow pairing this up with an impulse purchase 120 Vertex so tomorrow should give me a very nice upgrade indeed.

Coming from a standard 5770 Cross Fire configuration but will be nice to see how Planetside 2 will perform on this and the SSD. Can't wait

CPU is fine a 3.8ghz Clocked i7 920

Its really the multiscreen performance that puts the AMD over nvidia for me. Read too many articles about perfomance flake out and 1980*1020> resolutions.

The cheap skate in me wanted to wait for the Sleeping Dogs deal but I have a feeling the boards will jump back up to £260 on that. I can happily wait for steam christmas sale to get it for a fiver

Hi there

Sorry this choice is easy, both 7870 and 7950 are better buys!

7950 is faster at everything and cost less.
7870 is not far behind 660Ti and cost far far less!

AMD all the way at this price point guys!

Or just buy a 7850 and overclock it and you've got a card which beats a stock 660Ti for about £150. :D :D :D

Was asking the same question myself only a few days ago. Went with the 7950 in the end due to the ridiculous pricing! Installed it and loving it so far, proper beast and the MSI Twin Frozer doesn't go above 55c on load, amazing!
