7950 overclock not recognised

Hi, I've overclocked my 7950 TF3 to 1000/1400 on stock voltage through Afterburner, but sometimes when playing BF3 it resets the clocks to 880/1250. Then, when I restart firefox and then play a new game, it goes back to 1000/1400. I've checked using both afterburner and GPU-Z that it is actually resetting to 880/1250- even though I have 1000/1400 saved as a profile set to apply at startup. I was just wondering why this might be happening? Thanks

im not the most clued up on this but im sure that there is a setting in battlefield 3 that slows down the gpu?

like i said im not an expert but im sure i read that somewhere

Have you got CCC overclocking disabled?

Thanks, it's a bit strange because sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. One thing that I have discovered, is that opening my window wider drops my GPU temps by about 5C
