Hey, plz could anyone tell me whats the safe temp for a 7950 on stock cooling?, and is there any way to increase the slider past 1200mhz on AMD overdrive? it got to 1200mhz really fast no artifacting or crashing, so i guess its got a lot more in it yet, especially when i get water cooling on it.

I ran a gpuz log an temps were spiking at 72 degrees after running 3dmark a few times.

I would keep it under 85C under normal usage, and try MSI Afterburner for overclocks past CCC's limits.

great cheers will do..suprised how far these cards overclock on stock cooling, i wonder why they didnt put them out with higher clocks in the first place.

Im finding increasing the memory speed is making hardly any difference to the 3dmark11 graphics score though, dunno if its even worth overlocking that, increasing the GPU speed from 800-1200 changed the graphics mark from 8000 to 11000, but changing the memory from 1200 to 1500 makes almost no difference, maybe i need a different bench program to see any improvement from that.

you weren't kidding that difference in memory speed made 300 points different in that benchmark.

It does love a good mem clock does Heaven.

What are you scoring with settings changed to Tesselation - Normal and AA - x4 and at what clocks?
I'm assuming you're at 1080p?

Im still waiting on my monitor and gpu waterblock atm, so just setting it up using my TV as a monitor at 720p, so no point comparing any scores or anything yet i guess till i can use a proper res.

At 720p with the i5 at 42x100 and graphics at 1200/1500 i got 3163 marks with them settings you suggested. Temps went up to bout 74 on the gpuid log, which i think is acceptable, but the noise of the gpu fan at 60% throughout certainly aint lol.

I'm lumbered with a reference cooler, so I max @ 1150/1550 hitting 78C. Not gonna push any more, I don't need to. This is miles better than I ever expected.

My room temp is normally bout 14-16 degs, i like my pc room quite chilly so i guess it proberbly helps with temps on that.
