7950 to 290X?

I have the opportunity to purchase a new XFX DD 290X for £208, which seems great. The cooler seems fine from the few reviews on the net.
Gigabyte WF-7950 will probably sell for £80 or so.

The fps increase seems to be around the 1.5 - 1.7x mark.

Running 2560x1440 and an i7 920 @ 2.66 (stock, boosts to 2.93)

Thoughts? Bottleneck? Bad cooler?

I wonder why theyve done that, the 7950 cooler cooled everything. Was really noisey though.
