7950 to 680

If it's a good clocker it's actually faster then a 680..

Not faster than an OC 680. At least at 1080p.

A clocked 7950 is around 5-10% slower than a clocked 680.

i.e. there ain't no difference to the naked eye.

If you're struggling with performance add another cheap 7950 and you're set for a long time.

There might be some deals soon to clear stock but prices won't fall much more, the new series will just phase the 7 series cards out.

Yes... A 7950 is only 4-6% slower then a 7970 when running at the same clocks and a clocked 7970 bashes a 680.....

Friend did this with my old 680, he said the fps wasn't that much better but games like borderlands 2 looked a lot better on textures and having full use of physx made it worth the jump.

No...

Source: I tested both :)

Somehow on this forum an OC 7950 magically became faster than an OC 680 and that just isn't the case. Granted, the difference isn't huge but at 1080p the 7950 is slower.

Even on Sleeping Dogs extreme AA the 680 and 7950 were pretty even which considering the massive memory bandwidth impact of extreme AA isn't bad.

I wouldn't bother the gains from swapping over will be minimal. What you will lose is 1gb of ram and probably money from making the switch. I'd keep with what you have or add another 7950 for crossfire.

If anyone wants to send me a 680, ill bench it vs a 7950 and put this debate to bed once and for all. I expect things would be pretty close.

Must resist getting into a pointless 7950/680 debate.

Another 7950 is definitely what you want, as long as your PSU and Case Cooling is good enough.
