Tony, What mobo are you currently using? this is the asked question i gave in another thread.. my mobo only supports 4x crossfire (ASUS P8P67) hoping on another mobo at the cost of around £150??
You will bottleneck the bottom gpu. On other words you won't get the best out of the card.
How is it the point of the discussion? The OP hasn't mentioned once anything in relation to cost of said upgrade, just wants to know what current cards are out there/around the corner.
If he's looking second hand for a 7950 at around £130, I picked up a 290 for under £200.
I'd probably recommend looking at game benches that the OP plays to use the difference to see how much is in it, either way it's about 10% at stock which is minimal.
Added to the fact it's not got great PCI-E lane speeds on his mobo which will take a hit also, with them being close together crossfire is also very hot when it comes to this unless they're reference design. Also what PSU do you have OP?
After coming from a 7990 previously my 290 is like butter in comparison there were times when the 7990 was very choppy/stuttery.
My two cents.![]()
600watt is pushing it to it's limit (And probably too far) if you had 7950CF.
They're brilliant cards and clock really well, love mine.![]()
