so, should i cancel my vtx x edition 7950 (280 including postage - used fb 10% off) for a 670? how far apart are they overclocked?

decisions decisions! would be grateful for some opinions!

I thin they would be very close when both over locked near their maximum. Aim for around 1200mhz with the 7950. I think it is an excellent price as long as you are prepared to over clock it yourself.

if it's worth it, then a few calls/emails aren't any bother to me. basically just have to decide before tomorrow before they ship my 7950 out :p. about the biggest things holding me back from the 670 are that 7950 is supposed to overclock like hell, and also my monitor is a s23a700d, which supposedly only supports ati 3d. but frankly, hd3d only supports 24fps per eye anyway via hdmi, and hd3d isn't supported at all via dvi-d, so hd3d wouldn't be a big loss at all (someone said otherwise here on ocuk, but more recent forum posts elsewhere still keep saying that the s23a700d won't do 60hz 1080p 3d using hd3d). but you say 670 has the slight edge, even with overclocking... so i'm kind of leaning towards an amendment now.

An overclocked 670 gives better performance then a stock 680.
I'll be jumping on the 670 bandwagon in the not too distant future (when a nice selection of water blocks are out). :)

How much extra will the 670 cost you? For £280 I think I would stick with the 7950. At least test out the over locking of the 7950, and return it under dsr if you're not happy with it.

The ati cards are probably a better choice if going under water. They are both quiet cards but with the ati ones you can pump through some more volts to aid a big overclock

The 670 will still overclock further judging by initial tests but time will tell.
Won't be till after the summer as I have a holiday to fund first :)

can't name the place, but since you ask, i could get a 3x windforce for just 35 more including postage. if i want less hassle, the reference model from right here is the same price, so that's an option too. and defo not going to watercool. sounds like the 670 has the edge, especially since i won't be pushing groundbreaking overclocks or using the paltry 24fps ati 3d feature?

alternatively (and most probably) i'll wait for some price changes in the next few weeks. delivery of my 7950 is set for the 14th though... i really hope it can be cancelled and refunded before it gets sent out!
