I am currently in the process of buying a new PC and I am wondering will a 7950 be capable of running all current games and all soon to be released games at a suitable frame rate on ultra settings or would I have to upgrade to a 7970 for that? I would prefer not to spend a large amount of money but if i must to be sure that I will have good performance for a significantly longer period of time I can buy a 7970.

Ok thanks, was pretty sure about it. Could have stretched my budget to 7970 but i guess its not needed.

With the money saved you can put it towards a second 7950 as and when :).

Crossfire 7950s is a very future proof set up for at least 2-3 years IMO.
