Am I to expect an increase or decrease in perfomance from a X1900XT 512mb...?

Also any reason why the heatsink on the BFG one is a fraction of the size of the x1900xt (connect3d) one?

Haha been there. Adds about 16 hours to the day when ya got a new toy and they make you work. Let us know how it goes.

Ill post my 3dmark stats when I get home

According to tomshardware theres a slight increase over the x1900 at stock speeds

BFG is "out of box" overclocked by a few mhz anyway, and i know the x1900 is a nice card to overclock...but i wasnt to interested in that.

no offence mate but if you have no idea wehther youd get an increase/decrease in performance why did you buy the card??

Other one wasnt mine, I was testing it as it had problems with it
Had enough of the problems so just went and got a new card

Didnt want too much of a performance drop though, been playing with it too long to suffer a downgrade

Well on that point it's a good buy. :D If the X1900 was only a few quid extra you should've maybe opted for that. Better image quality and HDR & AA capable and a little bit more powerful. Tomayto, Tomahto. :p

Slower and more expensive than the X1900XT 256MB, with inferior image quality and no HDR+AA support. I'm not sure what happened to your X1900XT, but you've made a downgrade here. :(

Lol that's the spirit. Enjoy your new card. It's no slouch.

All the best and happy xmas. :D ;) :)

Tick, tock, tick, tock of the clock. It'll be in your PC soon. ;)

Setup as in sig

With Radeon x1900xt
3dmark 5398
sm2 2161
hdr 2410
cpu 1644

With Nvidia 7950GT 'oc'
3dmark 5229
sm2 2242
hdr 2183
cpu 1597

The CPU is the same so i guess we can ignore that. SM2 is slight higher, and SM3 is lower.

Im pleased with this, and at least the system will boot 100% of the time now, which means i can start playing with the cpu speeds.

Nice one!.

Is your CPU @ stock speeds?. I use an X2 3800 @ 2.8Ghz and I get 2147 for cpu score.

yeah sure its a downgrade but the 7950s clock well, plus there not that far behind the 1900XT, plus they generate less heat, use less power and as in ALL benchmarks don't forget to add there preference, which is openGL based games, which more NVIDIA cards do better than there ATI counterparts :)

You mean like the 5fps advantage to 7900GT in Quake 4? Even if you take all the benchmarks, including OpenGL benchmarks specifically, the X1950Pro still comes off better so much more often it's unfunny.
