7950GT vs X1950XT

The 7950 has more memory, but i think you'd find better raw performance from the ATI, though the extra memory on the 7950 might be handy if he's using a high resolution.

Personally i'd pick the ATI because its cheaper aswell.....

DO NOT GET THE CONNECT3D X1950XT IT HAS NO DRIVERS.

I have the card. The drivers from the CD don't work, ATi's official drivers don't support the card fully either and neither does connect3d's X1950XT standalone display driver on their website.

THe Connect3D X1950XT performs the same as a X800GT in the best case scenario. You have been warned, seriously. I'm fuming atm, and I know a lot of others are stuck in the same boat.

If you absolutely must get an X1950XT (or your friend in this case), STAY AWAY FROM THE CONNECT3D ONE.

Have you tried using someone else's (mfr) drivers? Sapphire's one that came on the disk for mine work fine. Don't know if this will work.
