For those of you who have experienced similar problems as me (see other thread), I have found the solution to get the dual-screen output (one desktop over two screens) from the problem-prone 7950GX2.

Ready for step-by-step instructions? The let me begin.

Open nVidia Control Panel
Select the Set Multi-GPU Configuation page.
Click on the Multi-GPU Mode radio button
Go back to the main nVidia Control Panel page
Now select Display
Then Multi Display
Select Change Display Configuration
Choose Horizontal Span radio button.
Save and Close.

Job done.

The dual monitor thing is a stop-gap solution anyway because, as I mentioned on the linked thread, in a few months we'll be buying a hoooge LCD HD screen to replace the two TFTs.

We'll re-enable SLi and sit back and laugh at your X1900XTX. :D

tbh, i don't care anymore.

It's not my machine. I didn't pay for it. The end users are happy. I'm happy. It works on two monitors at the moment and it will work on one large tft. It doesn't need super graphics all the time. It'll do the job.

So what if the card isn't being used at it's full capacity right now. It'll be adequate for the purpose and will do it's job for the 8 years the machine will be installed for.

End Thread.
