Good afternoon guys!

I have purchased a 7950X3D, which I have sent off to get it Delidded (then Relided) + Liquid metal added to the CPU Die and IHS, plus lapped.

(Thanks to this guy >>> https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/ukdelid).

Now I was watching a JayzTwoCents video about his lapping (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmQ7IU8Nj2c).

At exactly @14:40, he uses custom springs and long screws. Could anyone possibly give me the sizes for both please, or even better, know of a supplier in the UK?

Once my CPU's back, I believe I will need spring based screws for my Liquid Freezer II.

I left a message on the Jay's video some time ago, but have had no reply, hence my post here. (NOTE: This is in no way blame gaming/ or finger pointing etc towards Jays team).

Many thanks!

Adam W.

Hi, did you watch the entire video ?

The longer threaded bolts didn't work, so he took off the spacers on the existing mounting kit and it worked ( 16:40 in video ) - no need for custom springs and longer bolts.

Looking at the Arctic mount, that would mean you either leave these spacers out, or sand them down untill you get the right height.

DISCLAIMER - Up to you if you try it. I do not represent OcUK.

Thank you very much Brizzles!

I did watch the video, and noticed at @16:42, he butchers the mounting bracket/ screw.

Nethertheless, in my stupidity, I would never of thought of removing the spacers that you have mentioned! .

You are absolutely right, Il swap them out for a m2/ or m2.5 (I think) nylon washer to help equalize the pressure.

Thank you once again Sir!!!!

Watching this, have exact same set up buty CPU maxes at 82c so not sure if this is beneficial
I will update this thread furthmore once the cpu arrives. Im hoping to install it this upcoming friday morning.

Believe it or not, we almost have the same ram too, but mines the CL32 version :)

What do you have for your whole system cooling if you don't mind me asking? Excuse the mess in the photos, I was/ still am in the process of moving house.

I butchered my Define S long ago for my 5950X, so I could get X3 140mm fans in the front, x4 140mm on the side, x2 140mm undearneath, x2 140mm at the rear, and x6 for push/ pull on top. Realistically, the cooling is silly and over done, however whichever room i place her in now, she dosent seem to throttle out.

The photos are with the old 420mm Eisbar before she died, apart from the last one.

Before I added the 2nd 140mm rear fan

Rear 140mm fan working

CL32

With the Freezer II, current set up.

Do you have before temps to compare?
Good morning Kindai,

I'm afraid I don't. I'll be totally honest, I tested the cpu out long enough to flash the bios to 1602 as its a brand new board, and then to boot onto the desktop to make sure my M.2 Nvme worked.

I wasn't expecting to make this thread very big, only to get part sizes.

I do however, have a cheap room thermometer somewhere in one of my box's, which can show you the room temp and Cupid HWMonitor for the PC once shes ready to be put to the test. It's not the best way to figure the room ambient temps before and after, but it'll give a rough ball park figure for the actual cpu temp.

all good - i love the pics - All about the performance ! this is OCUK afterall! So i have TG kryonaut extreme and the arctic freezer ii 420m with stock fans - I do have a 7000x with 6 intake and the arctic is top mounted as exhaust with a further single fan 140mm extracting - if 2 of my cores didnt hit 82c and were in line with the others i would have temps of 78c max ... tempted to lap it
Make sure you don't make the same mistake as I did. With so many intake fans, I tried to keep them as the same speed as the exhaust. However, I have x9 intake and x5(x8) exhaust fans. In retrospect, the exhaust fans should be slightly faster then the intake. (Or intake fans made slower then the exhaust fans).

It may be worth trying it out? Best case, that'll be a degree or two diffrence. Worst case, it stays the same? Might be the few degrees your needing? :)

thanks yeah i'll increase the speed of the exhausts, this thread has given be dark thoughts of even direct die xD
I'm so sorry for the delay guys.

I've only just received the 7950x3d this morning, and got everything back together.

I'm leaving for work in 20min, however, I've done a 30m multi core stability test and currently running a single core stability test on cinebench which ends in 7 mins.

Please note, that this is a brand new bios update, no overclocks etc. Only tweak, was to ignore my cpu temperature warning in bios, as it wasn't registering the freezer ii 420mm.

I believe the aio pump is running on max, however, the x3(x6) 140mm fans in push + pull, are wired seperatley and set on 'standard' in the bios.

I have the temps of the room + cupid hwmonitor, but will upload it at somepoint tomorrow.

Also with photos of fitting :)

Good afternoon guys :D.

What a total nightmare :mad::mad:. After having x3 Tomahawk Motherboards, I had to get used to to the settings of this X670E-E. However, that was the least of the problems. No matter what bios settings I put for the CPU or Ram, my system would eventually crash.

The problem turned out to be 1 of 3 possible things, which has now stopped random crashing.

1- Uninstalling Armoury.
2- Uninstalling GPU Tweak 3 (repaired after and working properly now).
3- Deleting ISLC.

Next post is my findings :)

Please note guys that my phone camera is really poor and I am in no way, in any way, a pro when it comes to computers, so please ignore my current settings. I need to research abit more now that my computers stopped crashing every 2 mins.

Modded 7950X3D

Installing the 7950X3D. Please note that I didnt need to use any washers. I was actually able to use the exact same mounting brackets WITH the original black spacers.

You will see a side shot of the X670E-E with the 7950X3D mounted. You'll also see why I could still get away with using the black spacers.

How she looked like while getting her ready. Note- Ignore the fans on the GPU, they were tied back onto the ram once I knew the system started ok.

Here you'll see a quick 30m Stability Test in Cinebench in both Multi + Single Core.

I never recorded the temps before the mod, so I have the temps of the room before the tests and after for anyone who likes numbers. Please note, that this is with a fresh bios and with all fans on 'Standard' including the aio fans, but with the aio pump on max.

And lastly, this is how she stands right now-

I hope this can help someone out there! :)

Good afternoon everyone,

Just a further update of the above. Voltages need touching up abit still, however, the lastest results of messing about on the new girl earlier today. Should this be helpful to anyone.

Its the also the third day in a row I've seen that 5850mhz pop up, which I believe is down to the PBO2. I believe my CPPC is also locked to cache in the bios, though It looks like my normal results reguardless.

I forgot to get a picture of the room temp, however it was 21.(something)c.

:)
