Hi all,

I've noticed this evening while starting out on Far Cry 3 that the game is really badly artafacting during game play & was first noticeable during the first intro scenes. I also did notice while gaming in Sleeping Dogs that it did artafact a little bit in some parts of the game but I originally put that down to glitches in the game. However, since playing Far Cry 3 this evening it has made me think again.

Does it sound like that my new Gigabyte 7950 WF3 is faulty? The card is totally stock and not overclocked and was purchased from OcUK 10 days ago.

Edit - thread title typo I know

Thanks all - Liam

Can you take images? FC3 is far from perfect ATM. Loads of strange glitches in the game. Imo what you seeing is the same glitches posted on the FC3 forums.

During the first few intro scenes there were a lot of bright yellow flashes that were appearing in random places such as patches of the ground, trees & the sky etc. Also when the camera moved and whenever there were lights/fire present - and especially when the scene became fast pace when running from the gangmen and approaching the helicopter on the bridge. I will try and get a screenshot uploaded tomorrow.

Ok so for the past couple of days Far Cry has been running absolutely spot on, but I've noticed today that artafacts have been appearing at random when web browsing (square patches which are an inch in diameter appearing at certain places on the screen, and also small small rectangular coloured boxes) and it seems to be intermittent and always disappears when I scroll down the web page or change tabs.

What do you guys reckon?

Thanks all - Liam

Send it back, i think MSI had some problems with heat with the 7950s but never heard anything about the GB ones.

Id send it back, just take pics of the artifacting, i recorded it with my 7850s and OCUK swapped them out no problems.

It does sound like faulty memory. Artifacting generaly means memory is clocked too high and I would also take some photos before asking for an RMA. If it is stock, that is a faulty card.

The card is running totally stock. I've just finished running both Heaven & Furmark and not once did it artifact... typical. Looks like more testing is needed.

When I bench and push the memory as far as possible, I get a disco effect but I see this in Heaven and 3DMark11. when gaming on my 24/7 clocks (+140 GPU + 450 Mem), I don't see any artifacting at all.

I would deffo take some pics/screenies if it carries on doing it and ask for an RMA and send thos pics/screenies along with the GPU.

Sorry to bring this back up guys, I'm still having intermittent issues with the card. I haven't really had time for gaming this week but I have finally captured what I have been experiencing with web browsing / general day to day computer tasks ever since owning the card from new:

As you can see, this artifact isn't really significant but it certainly isn't normal, and I also still get the 2 inch in diameter square artifacts which randomly appear for a couple of seconds and then disappear too, but this particular one pictured will remain there until you scroll further down the page or navigate to something else.

Thanks - Liam

Hi, not what you want to hear probably but I bought a Gigabyte 7950 (not form ocuk mind) and the first one I got was doing similar things but also constant crashes as well.

Turns out was a faulty card so sent back for a replacement and it works fine so it was the card in my case, hope you get yours sorted

Thanks for your feedback, out of interest did you send it back to OcUK or Gigabyte?

Well to neither as I didn't buy it from here, but I had only just received it and sent it back to the retailer, and definately in your case you should do the same but post in Customer services forum / OCUK website first for a suppprt ticket to be raised
