Holding these copper sinks up to the ones ive already got on there, im not sure how much, if any, difference these will make. I will try anyway though as ill just swap it back if it doesn't work out.

Those must be better than the el cheapo AC ones matt surely?

tommy's eagle eyes has spotted the small double sided adhesive rings in your clicky bag, is that a spare set?

I don't have them for my second older cooler, it's a nightmare trying to line it up when mounting it onto the core.

Careful brother(too much Sons Of Anarchy:D), don't tan both of those cans then do the refit!

That's what im thinking tommy. Well ive taken the vrm heatsinks off. Man, g1 everywhere on the pcb. This is gonna take some cleaning up. The downside of g1 i guess. I have to say i did a sterling job, the heatsinks were stuck pretty firmly to the vrms.

That is a spare set, i ordered them from HK as last time i did this i improvised with akasa tape. :D

I haven't touched them yet. Though i might have to neck them both quickly to help clear up the g1. This is where im at so far. Gonna try a hair drier to warm the g1 up so i can get it out of those nooks and crannies easier.

That will be my next port of call Pete.

Way to much hassle for me, thank **** for thermal tape!:D

Slightly OT, but are those 7950 WF locked voltage that's on offer and what's cooler removal policy with GB?

Is it fine or don't tell them or what?

They're not locked afaik.
No idea about their policy, but the stock cooler isn't far off an Accelero is it?

Miles off pete, they make a god awful racket imo when the gpu hits 60c, night and day with acoustics alone never mid the thermal capabilities.

Bought the 7970WF the same day matt bought his oc but it only lasted a few days before artifact city broke out, it had bad coil whine to boot.

I'm an AC Extreme die hard first and foremost for the low noise levels-especially the inaudible desktop browsing(CrossFire too) it brings when every other fan in the case is off.

The extra performance is a bonus.

(please don't take offense if you read this and own a WF-I'm anal about noise :))

pretty sure the new gigabyte 7970's are voltage locked, older stock are unlocked

as for removing the cooler they wouldnt mind imo

EDIT: the 7950's arnt locked but the 70's are far as i know

Thanks rusty:D, is it 6+8 pins or 6+6 and does it still have the bios switch?

Not wanting another 70 wazza, not worth the extra tbh.:)

Having lots of trouble getting the tape off the thing to stick on to the vrms. Had to use the tweezers.

houston we have a problem!

i don't have enough, need two more for the vrm on the left!! Will have to use some akasa tape and stick a accelero sink on that one for now.

Managed to squeeze one of the large L shapred sinks in the top left corner. Is that safe? Its touching the mofset.

A copper base with Alloy fins is the best solution. As copper (high density) absorbs heat better and Aluminium (low density) expels heat better. That's why most heatsinks have a copper base plate with alloy fins.

I doubt you would find anything that small built like that though. Those should give you a small benefit they look miles better though.
