yeah couldnt find the same card

i think ill wait now and look around for a thick copper heatsink that spans all three rows of chips and cool the lot in one, will be better than lots of small aluminium heatsinks, ill need to measure it up

Yeah im not sure if they're vrm's or not. Do you have one vrm on the left hand side like on the 7970 reference pcb?

Those little black things above the black boxes with R47 are the left vrm's. Your card has a lot of vrm's. I'm confused.

yep your right, two of those four chips have Ra22 printed on them same as the two rows of vrm chips at the other end of the board

the two remaining have Ra38 printed on them same as the third row of chips on the right of the board

so im guessing the Ra38 ones arnt vrm chips but ill probably cover them if i can anyway

Yeah it won't hurt. Maybe you should buy the Peter heatsinsk as well so you can cover all the chips. Either that or buy a spare set of accelero sinks.

Well done that man matt, got there in the end mate.:D
I think you need to invite neil over and get you plumbed up if you want to improve on what you have.

What does the original cooler cover ?

+1

Check what the original cooling plate was in contact with.

heres a good candidate,15mm wide 92mm long covers all the chips in one go,just have to cut the tops off at the right height

You might not need to cut off anything if you wiggle the AC heatsink on, the fins from the heatsink have play in them and you should be able to slot them together, leaving the best results available without cutting..

The massive Peter VRM heatsink would be Ideal if you could machine this part off:

Plus you get the rest of the heatsinks in the pack to use too.
