how are you accelero guys getting along with the summer heat? ive noticed a good 8c rise now 63c where I was hitting 55c just before summer

vrm temps I dare to look yet

I am exactly the same as you. When I first got it 3 months ago it ran at 55 degrees, now it can peak at 62. I am still very happy with mine. This is how they should come from the factory! Really quiet and cool running.

I've made too many changes to my setup to be able to accurately compare. A few months back, I had a 7970 with an Accelero, clocked to 1125/1575, with 3 screens attached, in an RV03 with all fans set to LOW, and topping out at 82C-85C with VRMs about mid-90C's.

Now I'm running this 7970 in slot 2, with a 7970 Windforce 3X in slot 1, both clocked to 1050/1500, 4 screens attached, and the RV03's fans controlled by Speedfan to go to HIGH when the GPUs heat up. The Windforce tops out at 72C, the Accelero GPU never goes over 61C, and I cannot monitor my VRMs at all on either card! :D

Not helpful, I know, but I wanted to feel involved in this thread again after having followed it for so long!

I give up...
Searched the net and no comparisons of Gelid Icy Vision A with the Arctic Accelero

you think its worth me replacing the cooler with one of these on my his iceq 7950 boost?

I have same card as you and to be honest IceQ is very good. But I want something quieter/cooler to push the card a little bit more. Have a look at the thread in my signature, the modded BIOS will help out with temps a bit ;)

I bought a reference 7950 when on sale a while ago (a smidgen under £200!) and was thinking about putting an accelero on it. Given that I won't overclock it (just a light gamer) is it worth it? Is the reference cooler OK for just a bit of modded Skyrim from time to time in terms of noise?

Gelid Icy Vision A is roughly 34 quid, I referred this cooler to lettuce and hes very happy with it so far.
But again if the temps dont jump over 85c and it's not bothering you then just leave it as it is...

I have just fitted my xtreme 7970 to my 7970 and I am amazed by the temps and the noise, or the lack of both! Idles at 30c and at load around 55-60c, at 100% fan speed I cannot hear it!

It is quite impressively quiet isn't it. You have to experience it to believe it !

Now that the fans are venting into the case instead of outside the case, my CPU temps are a lot higher. Are there anyways of countering this? I have an NH-D14.

Side exhaust fans on your pc case. Cable tie or zip tie a fan near the front hard drive cage blowing direct onto the gpu's. Create a positive pressure case (more intake fans than exhaust) and remove some pci brackets on the back of your case so hot air is forced out the rear via positive pressure.

Looking for a bit of advice. I bought an accelero about 3 months ago but a little worried about fitting the unit. Is it easy and how long does it take?

I wouldn't say easy. I would say medium ! It basically took me 2 hrs, but my card was very fiddly to do the VRM cooling. Others no doubt were quicker, but I hope that gives you an idea. One or two on this thread damaged their cards fitting the Accelero, but the majority have had no issues. The benefits totally outweigh the risks in my opinion. Its totally silent, and very cool running. Basically a very well engineered product that does exactly what its supposed to do.

Any of you have an idea if this fits a XFX HD7950?

I think so.

Its a bit tricky for a first time install. Just take your time, especially when you have to put the adhesive rings on. You don't get any spares so you need to be careful on this part. If you worst happens and you mess this part up you can cut and use a small bit of thermal tape instead.

There is a video on youtube that i used the first time to help. Its not perfect but its a start.
