Is there any point getting one of these when gaming on 1080p, I will be playing all the top games etc and am considering getting one if they're around 450 quid.

Would I be wasting my money?
 
That is the res I game at currently and I will be getting 1. I currently have 2 5870's and although they run most things flawlessly at top settings at 60fps, the lack of VRAM becomes an issue with antialiasing etc. in some titles.

These cards are possibly slight overkill at that res, but it will last a very long time given the speed and massive amount of memory.

FYI hotlinking to images isn't allowed.

You may post images providing they are hosted by a well known image hosting website, such as imageshack, photobucket etc.. Directly linking to images on other sites that are not expressly for that purpose (known as Hotlinking) is not permitted. Hotlinked images will be removed with an infraction notice issued. Repeat offenders will be suspended. The sharing of images from your own personal web-space is acceptable providing you are the owner and give permission to do so. However, the OCUK moderation team reserve the right to replace or remove any image that is suspicious of being hotlinked or unknowingly hosted by a members personal web-space, as it is not possible to identify those where permission has been granted or otherwise. Such decisions will not be overturned. To avoid complication, we strongly advise that all images are hosted by a image host as mentioned above, which can be easily identified as so. Images containing nudity, adult or offensive material, including swearing is prohibited. Please check your images before posting. Im on 1080p and have already bought one. Only bought as im due and upgrade (4870) and it will last a few years especially if i buy another in a years time.
 
I am also looking at a 7970 for bf3 due to the extra vram vs my 5850 at 1080p and agree they should provide a bit of longevity, just hope i can afford it on monday .....

Cat12.1 has hide data about DX12, but card is DX11.1 only
may be DX12 will added in Service Pack 1 for Win8 in future and GCN can update DX, because GCN is more programable architecture than Fermi and has better compatible with future DX :cool:
