Hey all,

Well im just plain unhappy with my 7970 WF because of the issues im having with it. Im seriously thinking of returning it and paying a bit extra for the 670 WF but was wondering - what are the rules around DSR? I mean, ive ripped open the bags to get at the cables, but otherwise everything is as it was when delivered. Anyone done this and was it an easy process to pay the extra?

if the card has a problem and it is less than a months old or so, then returning it even though the bags are ripped open etc shouldn't be a problem, i mean you have to test it first to make sure there isn't a problem right?

I had a problem like this with argos. I got an item (not saying which) and I took it out its packaging and it didn't work and the box was ripped and so was the inside plastic stuff.

I went back the next day and said it wasn't working, they said because the packaging was damaged they couldn't do anything, so I came home, went online, printed out their return policy and went back. The packaging shouldn't really matter if the item is broken. If the item is working and packaging is damaged then they cannot resell it, but if it's broken or has a fault they have to give you a replacement or your money back.

Hope this helps!

Distance Selling Regulations only apply to distance purchases (i.e. internet, telephone) and not in-store purchases.

See here for OCUK returns T&Cs - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/support.php - they do offer 14 day DSR and under the DSR (legally only 7 business days, after the day of receipt) the user can return the product for ANY reason at his own cost and cannot be required to provide the packaging (or provide it in perfect condition). However, if your card is faulty, you can return it as such and OCUK shuold reimburse the cost of postage if a fault is found.

Thanks for the info, im going to give it another go tonight to resolve these issues - theyre more little niggling issues I wasnt really expecting. Im going to give it a good run tonight and make a decision tomorrow.

That's a little different to DSR.

I like the way you sorted them out.
