hi guys and girls,

i have a sapphire hd 7970 oc edition and was just wondering what kind of fps you guys get on these 3 titles; dayZ, skyrim and battlefield 3.

i have vsync on as i have a 60hz monitor.

when i play these games i have everything maxed out, except for shadows on dayZ because they really annoy me when on high. but other than that at it's max.

now, when it comes to dayz its any ones guess what FPS i'm going to get, some days it runes rather well but others its borderline unplayable. so it ranges from 7fps (yeah..) to 60fps but it's very rarely 60. i'd say the average is about 27-36fps

lowest i've seen on skyrim is 34fps and i'd say the average on skyrim is about 55fps as it's almost always on 60fps it usually drops when im in towns/cities.

and battlefield again, is almost always on 60fps occasional drop to mid 30's when explosions are going off left, right and centre. this is all on ultra settings, with everything at the highest it can possible be.

and i was just wondering, what do you fellow 7970 owners get with your cards? as i've searched online and it seems no one actually gives a straight answer or they'll say everything is maxed besides my AA etc.. which obviously affects it quite a lot.
and whilst we're on the subject, would adding a second 7970 to the mix help improve my average fps? as i've heard crossfire doesn't work too well in some games (for what reasons im unsure?)

many thanks guys, and apologies if this question has been asked a million times before.

Hi Scott,

DayZ FPS is highly dependent on the server you're connected to.

It's quite odd for a game in that sense, but even if you have the fastest PC possible, it could still run crap depending on the server.

cpu?

also res / settings.

bf3 i avg 80-85 @ 1080

dayz 60 ish constant but obviously servers can kill your fps.

I never max settings, i'll always lower all my settings to get 120fps as a minimum.

What is your CPU, your low frames on DayZ and Skyrim are probably due to that, as for increasing your average....you should worry more about your minimums for a smoother gameplay tbh, 120fps average is all well and good providing you're not getting drops to mid 30s every 30 seconds.

The Standalone will fix this, they was a youtube video of Dean hall taking on a stage and he explains why dayz mod as performance issue and they explains what he as done to fix this.
They isn't a PC out there that will run DAYz soild 60fps in and around cities/towns

Dayz all the zombies are using soldier models and have full bone structures. This one of the main reasons dayz performance is very bad.

Tri SLI titans? :p

probably going to be stoned for saying my cpu lol, it's a amd piledriver fx-8350 @4.6ghz
and my resolution is 1920x1080

No need to ashamed m8 they aint that bad :)
I have the same processor, not really looked at fps as such but at the minute I'm more concerned about the usage on my 2 7970's which is never near 100%. Out of the games you play I just play BF3 and it always plays very good with no noticable micro stutter or slowdown but when I finish a round I do notice the fans spinning faster and temps at their highest, almost like the menu is making the cards work more than the game :)

yeah i don't think it's to bad, not for the price. just seems everyone hates them lol.
micro stutter was one of the things i was worried about if i were to get another card.
as they are pretty expensive, wouldn;t want to buy it then certain games be unplayable due to it.

Well Like I say, they both run fine and with the new drivers promised they might run even better. I have always wanted either an Sli setup or X fire since I had a pair of 8800 GT's in Sli a while ago and now I had the chance to get a couple of 7970's and I'm not dissapointed. They run fine but I haven't really put them through a lot of games, just BF3, MW3 and Project Cars which they run fine, they sit at around 40 - 45 degrees now max in BF3 and late 40's, early 50's in Heaven 4 extreme benchmark and 3D mark, but overclocking them to around 1500/1700 they get into the 60's, but I do use an aggressive fan speed curve in Afterburner.
Just need to find out why they are not utilized 100% in games fully when they are in the benches.

I can tell you that on Skyrim with heavy addons (nearing 3GB VRAM load) I have 40-60fps with Vsync on at 1900x1200. (7970 from xfx at 1075/1425)
