7970 DirectCU II, No signal [issue]

Hey first time build and i'm currently using an AMD 8350 with and ASRock 990FX Extreme 3 mobo & 7970 Direct CU2.

My problem is that the 7970 won't seem to show any signal during post at all my monitors won't even come on. *Tested them on my Dell 21" S2009W or my 32" Samgung TV Model: LE32R87BD [R].

It has power and fans spin up once i've powered up the system.
Tested using one & two PCIE 8pin out's via the PSU.

Also switched the micro switch on the card located next to the Crossfire connector.

CPU:AMD 8350 @4Ghz, Came pre clocked.
Mobo: ASRock 990FX Extreme 3
GPU: 7970 DirectCU II
PSU: CX 750M

I'm currently having to use my 5770 as it's running off one 6pin

Also a side note: when i got home i did notice that the box the GPU came in looked like it had taken a good kick in. Though i doubt this could be an issue due to all the padding inside the GPU packaging.

NNOoooo's!!! Jay, it will be something silly don't worry. I had something similar with my 680 when I did a clean Windows install. My monitor just wouldn't pick up the GPU using DVI. I ended up having to plug it in by HDMI to my tv, install drivers and then it would work.

Yeah i hooked mine up to my TV via DVI-HDMI still didn't pick it up. I'm real confused by it all tbh

Just in case... You are connecting the DVI/HSMI lead from the monitor, to the GPU, and not the output that is on the motherboard?

Yes it's DVI-HDMI addaptor out the back of the GPU to the monitors as the mobo hasn't got on board graphics.

I had the exact same problem with my 1st 7970.

I tried absolutely everything. Diff mobo, Mobo bios update u name it.

It turned out to the card was faulty and they sent me a new one.

They seem to be very slack on the description's for these updates :/

"1. Support Windows 8.
2. Update CPU code.

Note: "Ultra Fast" is only supported by below conditions.
1. OS is Windows 8.
2. Graphics supports UEFI GOP."

Not sure what i'm meant to be looking for detail wise. I thought it could be a BIOS issue but i'm to scared i'll break something and brick my mobo. I don't have money to go out and buy a new one :[

Its a common issue mate. I get no BIOS post on my 7970 ( didnt on my 7950 or 670 either ) when using a DVI cable.

Works fine with a Displayport cable tho if your rmonitor has a displayport.

Yeah this thing has like five display ports though i don't have a monitor that will take them. Would a Displayport to HDMI work?

definitely update motherboard bios.

Ok I've just done that now and it's still not fixed. I'll go out tomorrow and get one of these active displayports see if that works.

Edit: I managed to get a Displayport to HDMI and it still didn't give me a signal out to my TV so i guess the card is dead so i got an RMA set up, Really hope i can get it in time for BF4 :S
