Im not sure which to get, the price difference is big, so im wondering which to go for. As i read 7950 can overclock to a 7970 anyway?

Its all for gaming btw, BF3 etc!

Ok, spanner throwing in works time. To run with no drops to 58fps on 64 player servers (noticable when running with vsync 60hz) with ultra and all settings maxed in BF3 at 1920x1080 I had to overclock my 7970.

Standard 7970 I got between 58fps and 105fps at ultra
Overclocked 7970 between 72 and 125fps at ultra

Hope this helps

Get the 7950, at same clocks as the 7970 its basically the same performance and from reviews it overclocks just as well as the 7970 so yeah the 7970 is fairly redundant with the 7950 on the scene. Of course overclocking mileage will vary and if you do not intend to overclock then yes the 7970 comes out of redundancy and is the better buy in regards performance.

We have already seen great overclocking numbers from the HD 7970 and the HD 7950 can top that (when looking at the relative increase). Essentially the card reaches the same maximum clocks as the HD 7970.
