HI,

I have got a pair of MSI 7970 OCs in crossfire and I am trying to overclock them.

I can quite happily get them to 1100/1550 at stock voltage (1.175) but cant get them stable any higher, even if i bump the voltage up to 1.2 or 1.25.

The ASICs are 67.5 and 74.9.

Trying to overclock using MSI Afterburner 3.0.0b9, using 13.5b2 drivers.

Have I just reached the limit of the cards, or is there something else I am missing?

I would say if you keep under 80C and 1.3V you will be ok.

1.25v is normal, the 7970 Ghz and 7950 boost editions comes with 1.25v as default voltage.

one more thing about overclocking the cards memory, it's not because you are not getting errors on your screen that the overclock is ok...

ddr5 mermories on graphic cards have error check, so even if it get some errors with moderate overclock it will correct but you will lose performance... that is why sometimes you will have more performance running at 1600mhz than 1700mhz

Thanks, I have seen that when testing. I can get lower Unigine scores with higher clocks!
