7970 Replacement

I managed to kill my HIS 7970 shortly after completely voiding the warranty on it

Therefore I'm planning on buying a new card today to replace it, and just wanted some opinions.

I was thinking of either the MSI 7950 that's on offer today for £240, or the Sapphire 7970 that's going for £335.
Is the difference between these cards worth almost £100?

Any suggestions will be appreciated

I installed a Gelid Icy Vision-A on it - I smelt burning on the first boot and now it lies dead on my desk
I'm not sure what I did wrong, everything seemed to be making good contact. Not much I can do about it now anyway.

How's the 660 Ti in comparison to the 7950?

There are some excellent 7950s on offer this week. The twin frozr at £240 looks a bargain to me.

I would try and rma the card, if there is no physical damage to the card, put the stock cooler back on and plead ignorance. What do you have to lose?

Yeah I'll give it a go - though I've been told if they deem my warranty as void I won't get my card back, as they're based in Taiwan.

I went for the MSI 7950 I should have gone for the 7950 the first time really, I probably won't even notice the difference in performance

Do OCUK usually dispatch the item on the day of purchase?
