Hi all,

I've got a HIS 7970 card which I bought just after they first came out, so original board and cooler. Flashed it with the ghz edition firmware some time back and it's been fine.

Decided to quieten it down somewhat so bought an accelero xtreme for it, which I had some fun fitting.

Anyhow - been reading the accelero thread and noticed a lot of talk about vrm temps when using it. Thing is when I try checking in gpuz, the vrm temps seem stuck at 25c for "vrm temperature 1" and 26c for "vrm temperature 2" no matter how busy the card is.

Thankfully this card has a bios selection switch so switched over to the original bios, and checked again - but same issue. :(

Any ideas what could be causing this issue and how to fix it? Tried different versions of the drivers too but with no effect... :(

Your card has no vrm temp reading im afraid so no way to check. Not sure if the Ghz version of your card has vrm temp reading either.

That's explains that then. Guess I'll only know if they get too hot when they melt/catch fire and burn through the board. :)

My HIS 7950 is the same. It bugs me because I have a suspicion that they cause issues over a certain temp, to the point where lowering volts increases stability at some clocks. Either way, it is what it is. Trial and error until you get stable.

@fizzy and Devrij,

You won't melt anything not knowing the temps of your vrms, you'll know that they are too hot when you game.

When your finding your highest stable oc, artifacts are almost instant.

In actual gaming, after time, if artifacts start rearing their heads, it's usually the vrms getting too hot.
