Bought a sapphire vapor-x flavoured 7970, jesus it's loud.

Do people just put up with it or is there a silent cooler I can fit?

I wish I had bought the nvidia now purely because of the noise!

It's far from silent under load, I can hear it above the case fans (650D) and H80i pump/fans with headphones on. I was expecting quieter.

GPU core temp is around 65C under load and vapor-x fans are hitting 2,600rpm at default voltage (1.256 iirc) and 1050/1500 core/mem.

It's because Sapphire have just used the stock fan profile for some stupid reason.

Set a manual profile using Trixx. I found about %45 under load keeps it cool and keeps noise at a decent level.

I guess it's not as good as the 7950 Vapor-X then :/ I had that and it ran at around 55C and under 2000rpm. It was in February though :p

It's far from silent at idle, fan speed down low. In games unless I wear headphones its really annoying.

(Edit - I have just set the fan speeds manually to 25% and it's much better now, I think it's still going to annoy me when gaming though!)

Thanks!
