Sorry for posting this, it had probably been posted dozens of times before, but I'm deciding between a 7970 and a 680. I don't know which one would be better for my system below, does anyone have any opinions? Same goes for the version to get (Gigabyte, EVGA, MSI ect.) Thanks

i5 3570k @4.4GHz
16GB Corsair Venegence
Asus P8 Z77 LX
500w Corsair Builder
9 *ahem* 120mm case fans (w controller)
2 seagate hard drives

I'd probably be running at 4320 x 900, I was thinking about two 7950s, though from what I can tell its a hotter, more expensive option that might not work as well on some games as a single card. Plus might be pushing at 500w?

If the 7970, any particular models? Or whichever is cheapest. I will probably overclock myself though that is not certain.

That resolution is about the same as 2560x1600, if you want to look at benchmarks.

A single 7970 (or 680, though trailing a little behind) would do okay at that resolution, if you don't need to run your games at maximum settings.

2x7950 is much better, but you'd need to upgrade your PSU. They don't necessarily run hot - it depends on the brand you pick and case cooling. I don't think my 7970s have gone above 65C except when benchmarking.

670 oc is quicker than a 7950

I would not bother with a 680 or 7970 if you want very high details across 3 monitors, wait for new amd cards IMHO.

I'm not too worried about running on ultra or anything; I currently run BF3 Low - Medium although I can handle higher. When will the new AMD cards be out, and what will be the benefit, as well as price difference?
