Do 7990's in crossfire overheat on air (I have HAF932 case)?
I know some have reported this but not sure what the reality is.

Those cards can run hot anyway, I found that putting them under water is probably best to keep them cool, What is the airflow like in that case as well? Would there be a big gap between the cards if you did go xfire?

Yes they can do.

I reckon it will be ok if you have good spacing, case airflow and some side fans acting as exhaust to suck away the heat each card puts out. That's just my opinion though.

I have very good case airflow (4x120mm fans blowing from side and 3x120mm top extract plus 1x200 front extract ) as I currently have two overclocked 6990's but I did read about one of the 7990 GPU's getting very hot on Toms Hardware when two cards ran in crossfire. Also I'm still on Gigabyte UD5 EX58 so the spacing between cards is only the two slot minimum. I will be doing a CPU upgrade very soon (4770k at 4.6ghz which will provide more spacing).
