Ok, here's my issue, sorry for the long post.
I use Windows 7 x64
I've got a load of MKVs which playback in Windows Media Player just fine. In order to get them to playback at all I had to use Shark 007 codec pack.
In here, you can choose to set the Windows Media Player default to either the 32bit player or 64bit player.
By default, it is 32bit. If I change it to 64bit, all my MKVs seem to play at double speed or faster.
If I change it back to the 32bit player, the MKvs play fine in Media Player.
However, if I watch the same file in Media Center, they are all played at double speed. I can only assume that Media Center uses the x64 player by default.
At best, I'd like to get the MKVs playing with the x64 player, or, change Media Center so that it uses the 32bit player.
I guess the other alternative is to run back to Windows 7 x86
