so, free upgrade 8.1 to 10 on a tablet? Is it a good idea or is 8.1 a better touch interface in your opinion, I'm currently in two minds and could use some nudging!

Running windows 10 on a Linx 8 and Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140, both work well and never had a drama.

I've got several tablets with 8.1 and one with Windows 10, 10 seems to perform a little better in actual use, though uses about 100MB more RAM but despite being the most powerful hardware of the tablets I've got is usually beaten in boot/resume times significantly by the 8.1 tablets.

I've also had a fair amount of drama with 10 - involving looking at the update/install screens more than actually using it - infact a few times turned to one of the 8.1 tablets due to it - they really need to get a clue and put more control over updates in 10 back in the hands of the user - at times it can be ruinous on the usage experience.

I got 2 tablets with Windows on.

The Linx will install anything I want it to, but the Surface is RT only.

With Windows 10, you can force it to run in tablet mode, and thats what I decided on, and to be honest, I really like it like that... It did originally come with Windows 8 with bing, however, Windows 10 is a fairly small O/S when installed fresh, and I have given them a 64GB MicroSD with the Docs/Pics/Video etc folders, all pointing to the MicroSD so that any apps I throw onto it, all get shoved to the very limited 32GB that they have, I have found that with Windows 10, the tablet has a nicer feel than it would have under 8.1 - I think that is really mainly down to that Tablet mode.

Windows 10 set to tablet mode unless I drop it in the keyboard cradle then it defaults to horizontal desktop mode. That's on a Linx 1010B tablet. Mainly because I prefer a keyboard for editing.
