Hi all, our engineers in work use Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8" phablets for communicating with the office and using the servicing software plus internet/email. Recently one of them became damaged and I'm hesitant to replace it with a new 2014 model.

The issue I am having is that most 8" Android phablets these days seem to exclude the voice calling app, so even if you use a voice+data sim you can't make/receive calls. I have found the Lenovo Tab 3/4 phablets but information on whether they support VC seems sketchy and perhaps region dependant.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a decent 8" Android LTE phablet that can make/receive calls?

Thank you.

Hi,

Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8
Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus 64GB LTE
Huawei MediaPad M2 8.0
Huawei MediaPad M3 64GB LTE
Huawei MediaPad M5 8 LTE
Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

Cheers :p

Thanks dude, with the exception of the dated Xperia those are some of the ones I had been looking at but the information on if they do/don't support voice calling seems to be ambiguous and possibly region specific. I.E the Lenovo apparently does in India but on their English forums people are saying it doesn't work and mods are saying it's not supported :S

If they can't make phone calls, surely they're just tablets, not phablets? A phablet in my mind would be something like the Galaxy Note i.e. a phone with an especially large display. Would that be too small though?

For such a purchase that looks so specific, I wouldn't bother searching information online but would rather physically visit the stores in the street.

How about a regular tablet with a sim card. Or a regular tablet tethered to a 3g or 4g midi... and use Skype (you can also attach a phone number to Skype so it behaves like a normal phone).
