I have searching the internet for a 8 channel fan controller.

The only one i can find is "Nesteq FanMax 8-Channel Fan Controller" which is out of stock everywhere as it is discontinued. Does anyone know of any other 8 channel fan controllers out there?

Or am i going to have to go for a lower number of fans that can be controlled by one unit.

Thanks - 4rchie0wns

Each channel on a fan controller can usually power several fans.

The maximum power draw in watts for each channel is usually stated on the spec sheet. After that its simple math, multiply the voltage of your fans (12) with whatever amperage they are stated to run under and you have the wattage for each fan, or sometimes the manufacturer also list the wattage the fan draws.

An example:
Take this controller (I have this myself) - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CM-047-LP
It can supply a maximum of 36w per channel

Then take this fan - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-048-AE&groupid=701&catid=2331&subcat=4
It is stated to draw 2.04 watts

This mean that you can power 17 of this fan on a single channel of that controller, using splitters or a power distributor.

(Or a total of about 100 fans if you fill up all channels :) )
