Hi,
Bought a Bitfenix Merc Alpha case and in a moment of madness bought some fans aswell.
I have a total of 8.
4 Antec Tri-cool
1 xilence red wing
2 thermal takes (not sure on model)
1 bitfenix

All bar the bitfenix have a 4 pin molex, some with 3 pin aswell. I'm hoping for somebody to give me a miracle cure as I think my pc may sound like a jet when I start it up (not built into case yet though so this is all "potentially")
I know the antec's have a 3 speed setting but I was hoping for something better than some set at half and others not controlled.

I don't mind either a 5.25" fan controller or a weird and wonderful wiring setup y cable splitter thing that will control everything.

My other pointer is that I only have 1 fan header on the mobo which i think may limit me a bit.

Any thoughts?

Should've bought silent ones.

I realise that would have been the easy way.

The 4 antec's were bought and the 4 others are "inherited" from either new case or previous builds.

I guess maybe another 4 antec's and just change each speed individually?
Be nice to have access form the front of the pc or at least the mobo setting.

Is there such a harness as it allows rpm sense speed control from mobo header yet powers itself from a molex so you can run a lot of fans?

I think I will end up dynamatting the case where I can anyway to bring the noise down a little.

For the Tri-cools if they are like mine you can only use the little switch to change the speed unless you solder a standard fan header onto the cable instead of the Molex.

For anything with a 3 pin you could use a fan controller.

For fans with just the Molex you could either run at 12v or switch the black and red wires to make a 7v fan. You can usually do one or two fans like this.

Are there Molex based fan controllers out there? Maybe some sort of PCB with several Molex and a trimmer or something.

Looks like I didn't plan ahead very well :-(
I may put up for now but then maybe January time I may invest in a full set of 3 pin fans with an 8 channel controller.

My only other hope was if I could solder on a 3 pin header instead of a 4 pin molex and hope that the fan responds to a voltage drop?

All fans respond to a voltage drop in a more or less linear fashion. I ran a modded Tri-cool with a soldered on 3 pin fan connector for ages at just above stall speed. Xilence fans just need the 3 pin fan connector and leave the Molex hanging free. The problem is with sourcing fan connector and wiring. I used some off old dead fans.

Just had a look and they (someone) actually sells Molex to fan connector extensions. We aren't allowed to discuss where this is for sale though.

and this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-006-GE&groupid=1929&catid=153&subcat= if you want a little speed reduction.
