Do you work for TomTom? "Don't miss out?" Sonds like something a salesman would say!

It's from an email. Notice the last line doesn't have a capital letter at the start like the rest of the post. If it was something he had typed, he would have had a capital 'm'.

"might come in handy etc".

I got that a while back & bought the traffic thingy, good if you are planning to buy something anyway.

not trying to be a dumbass here.. why do you need to pay anything at all?

I bought my Tomtom One V3 a few years back, I still seem to get map updates when I plug it in and run the update..

What does a subscription offer?

The updates you will be getting are the TomTom "Mapshare" updates.

http://www.tomtom.com/page/mapshare

Essentially, if someone discovers a road on the map which is now no longer there, they will flag it and when they dock their TomTom, it will update the maps of all other Mapshare users if you have that option enabled.

If that makes sense?

Also works for Speed limits, one way streets etc

Ah right, I get it

It's only a handful of times where I've found an old roundabout has now become a junction or vice versa

Doesn't take rocket appliances to figure it out, so I'll just stick with the free updates I think :)
