I personally think so, better build quality, better quality ICs, and direct warranty with OCUK.

A few have had the heatsinks fall off on the Vipers, they are good value so both will see you right, as long as you get the 3800MHz or higher on the Vipers as they'll be Samsung B-Die, the same as the 8Pack RAM :)

Edit: Not sure what speed 8Pack RAM you've been looking at but just so you know, the 3200MHz and the 3600MHz are from the same bin apparently so the 3200MHz can match the 3600 in speeds and timings, so maybe save a little cash? Or if you just want plug and play (just set XMP) then the 3600 is a good fast set for Ryzen CPUs :)
 
Was looking at the 4000 on the viper and 3600 on the 8 Pack, quite a differance on price. but if the 8 Pack 3200 should match its not to bad.
Never played around with Ram speed and timings, i assume its just a matter of adjusting a few settings? There again for the sake of £20 maybe just easier to get the 3600.
 
My 2 cents ... I did something similar ... was going to get the Vipers ... and after talking with Space Monkey ( thank you, my friend :p ) ... I decided to go with the 8Pack and they are amazing.

BUT ... I went with the 8Pack 4500 since there was a really good promo here in Portugal ( i wouldn't pay the full asking price for them of course :p ).

After tweaking and this was my first time, I was able to get 3733 16-16-16-32. I guess I can do more, but my knowledge is limited and as soon as I start getting too many errors or crashes I simply stop since I don't have the time to spend days tweaking memory.

At the end of the day, what I want to tell you is, get the 3600CL16, turn on the XMP profile and enjoy it. You can even push those to 3733CL16.

I bought the 4500 because I don't know what Zen 3 is bringing so I wanted some higher-spec memory just in case, but the hassle you go through to set those to the speed you want ( or you think you want ) is a hard path ...

... although is really good to learn of course ... if you have the time :)

I went for the have fun tweaking route and went for the 3200 for £99.95 :)

Got it working nicely at 3733 C16 at only 1.38v. I could be doing more tests to get more out of the RAM, but knowing I will likely upgrade to Zen 3 at some point I will just do it then :D
 
I got the 8pack 3200 running at 3800/16 it's actually pretty easy to configure if you use the ryzen dram calculator as that does all the timing and voltages for you and you just input them into bios, it comes with its own memtest also that you can leave running over night to make sure there are no errors.

Manually configuring the ram gave about a 10% performance increase over xmp so well worth doing imo.
 
Using 8pack 3200 since the Ryzen 1000 series, no issues running at advertised speeds, and now at 3600 using 3600 timings. Didn't bother fine tuning it, just yet.
 
Think it'll be the 8Pack just not sure which one yet. If its just a bit of quick easy tweaking to get it faster the 3200 sounds good, but i can't be bothered with spending loads of time(which I don't have) doing it so maybe just get the 3600.
 
Enjoying all the answers in this post guys. A quick question if I may. Does 8 pack do 32gb and if so is it better for me to get 4 sticks or 2 sticks that's if they do both.

Yeah, they have the 3200CL14 and 3600CL16 32Gb kits.

I also went through that ... usually the 4 sticks are tested as a kit and you can be sure that both 4 sticks are identical in terms of silicon capabilities.

Although I still think if you buy 2 kits of 16Gb, you will get the same outcome more or less...
 
@Postmodum oh okay, do you reckon my motherboard will be okay using 4 sticks? would the 8pack 3600 cl16 be better "future-proofing"? as It's currently on offer and 10 quid more than the 3200 cl14 ones, was told the sweet spot for my CPU is 3600 cl16 but not sure what's best for board or if there's even a sweet spot for ram with the mortar max?
 
I think both 3200CL14 and 3600CL16 B-dies are from the same binning, just more aggressively clocked.

Usually, 4 Dimms are a little harder to drive, but at 3600 you won't have issues.

Just get the 3600CL16 and close it for the day :)

If it was today, i would have got that kit instead of my 4500s ... but it was on offer and i went more with my impulse than with my brain :P
 
I have had both the Viper 3600 and currently have 8Pack 3600.

When I upgraded to my 3800X, I bought Vipers 3600 (2x8)16GB to see how good they are. After 2 weeks and not having any problems, I bought another 16GB pair of 3600 Vipers and had nothing but blue screen of death. In the end I sent them all back and ordered 16GB of 8Pack 3600 and again after a trouble free week, I ordered another pair and this time no problems at all running 32GB.

What timings are you using? My 8 pack edition arrived today. Not sure if I just xmp it and jog on or attempt a 3rd time trying to use what dram calculator says I can do with all 4 sticks. Just won't post lol

I also tried dram calculator twice and had the same problem. So I am using the xmp settings currently.

Ah fairs mate, me too. Work well on xmp so im happy. Though I've turned off msi game boost and I'll try 3600 at cl14 tomorrow as that's what dram said I may be able to do.

I had to do some tweaking to achieve 3733CL14 ...
Basically, what I did ... was a mix between 3733 Fast settings and 3800 Safe settings :) you need to try out :)
