£80 to fill up!

It does 72mpg according to the book - however im getting about 75mpg with reasonable driving. Its such a great change from my 2.2 mondeo :)

Why not get a car that can do 60+ mpg? That 70m commute is then 'only' £100 per month. £1200 per year commuting cost for a reasonable job isnt *that* bad.
Edit: I suppose when you add in all the other motoring costs its going to more than double that, though.

64mpg petrol small cars can be had _brand new_ for >£6K. And you can get slightly more comfortable 2nd hand diesels for a bit less.

For the first time in my life I'm actually considering ownership of a car powered by a stinking, rattly oil burner. It's now costing me well over £14 a day just to get to work and back. I think I need to borrow one for a week or so to remind me that driving a smooth, high revving petrol car is still good VFM ;)

I'm now having to consider whether to keep the ST220 or go for something a bit more economical as I'm spending a stupid amount of my income on petrol at the moment.

Was even thinking of getting a diesel :( shudder.....

I know I'd end up spending more money changing cars though as I wouldn't want to downgrade.

Just have to earn more money I guess......

How many miles you doing a day?

I did 360miles last week and filled to the brim at the same pump after my working week, 39 litres. 8.579gallons. About 42mpg from a mondeo estate petrol.

It is close enough for me to not worry about the 13 quid a week I could save if I had a 60mpg (ish) diesel.

But there is always that burning annoyance when going to fill up and it costs £70+ really gets my back up.

Pointless post just joining in the rant.

Best thing to ever happen to me was get a job within a mile of my house. I ride my bike to work and lost some weight too. My last job i was doing 400 miles aweek and £60 wAs enough in my vectra dti fuel was £1.29 back in 2008

My jeep took £85 on the last fill up. I'm walking and riding to work too. It will need another fill probably some point next week - if so, I've made £85 last 6 weeks :D

And it only does 14MPG!!

I don't fill mine up as I don't want to carry the extra weight but I am feeling great about MPG after stepping out of the 3 litre V6 Shogun & into me old Escort, More fun as well. :D

£48 last fillup which got me 250 miles and lasted a month. Unfortunately I'm moving back to my parents for a while which means a 70 mile round trip to work each day. Might be time to consider something a bit more economical.

120 quid now, im currently getting 11 to the gallon now im back in London.

Filling up in south-east London was cheaper than filling up here :(

Its often more expensive in West Wales than most places yet we are surrounded by oil refineries.

The most expensive station in town is alway Texaco, the fuel is produced about 10 miles away.

£80 is exactly what it cost me yesterday to fill up my boxster s. I did use the best part of a full tank as well :S

I imagine that if I drive it like a grandad I could make a tank last 3-4 weeks :) however I don't know this as I only got it yesterday. Ahh well at least the £ per mile when I do drive it for work is now 0.45p.

The Monaro costs me £96 to fill up and I'll see around 200miles from that but lasts nearly a month. My Mini with stop start costs £50 to fill and I'll see around 440miles from that.
