My mate is looking to build his pc this summer and I've specced this up for him.

Is the motherboard ok? I'm not up to date with 1155 mobos. Would a Z68 board be better?

He's set on the HAF-X case so for a tenner more, can get that PSU with it, but is it decent enough?

Anything else to change?

Ok brilliant. Thanks for the suggestions. Knocked it down to about £700 now. He said he's gonna get a SSD later on, but can afford it now I guess.

Very nice, but the Retail CPu is £6 more and has a further 2years warranty and a stock cooler and packaging.

Ah yes, I did see that but thought Sapphire is better as a brand. Haha.

Also, worth going for the £130 Z68 board instead?

If you want,

Lucid virtu.
SSD caching
Quicksync

Then yes, the ASUS Z68-V thingy is good.

Also you can still use the PC if anything happens to the 6950, sell it and theres a period of time until a replacement.

At first I was like :D because that's a nice find! Then I was like :( because he just said he's done it (I didn't realise he's ordering today)... then I was like :D again because he was just on the final checkout page lol.
Thanks for the help :)

This was his final build.

Can't help but notice you didn't go for the retail cpu though. Even if you don't need the stock cooler, £6 is a small price to pay for 2 years more warranty.

Yeah, the silver arrow was out of stock otherwise he would have gone for that one.

Oh yeah, I just didn't change it in the basket. But I forgot to tell him.. lol. So I'm not too sure which one he went for. I'll ask him next time.
