£800 First build. Spec me

Guys that’s great, thanks so much. I was looking at the Akasa case today as that’s what Paul 64l recommended previously, and the slightly-overclocked BFG card is the ideal replacement for the other BFG card. Hope there’s enough space in the case, or I’ll need to buy a hacksaw :D

And Flubble thanks for the build guide link, I think I'll need all the help I can get if things carry on the way they are.

there is enough room there is a few people with the case and gtx's so you will be ok.. good luck witht he build

Ok I’ve been putting everything together as I've just had it delivered. If everything works and the comp starts what changes do I need to make in the bios? Will I have to activate SATA connectors?

Here’s what was delivered:

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C5 800MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400DC)
Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Samsung SH-183LBEBN 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black) - OEM Akasa AK-ZEN-01-BK Zen Black Case - No PSU
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)
Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM

How is the build going, is it working ok? You shouldn't need to alter anything unless you want to start overclocking immediately. The GeIL may not run at the correct timings at stock but if you are going to overclock you may as well customise that afterwards.

Build's complete, I hope. But I'll see if it works tomorrow, I've got the whole day to pull my hair out if it doesn't.

I noticed the audio cable from the Akasa's front panel doesn't reach all the way to the front panel audio connector on the mobo. Not a disaster, as I'll just use the jacks at the back, but irritating anyway.

And as you said before, the GTS fits perfectly into the case with room to spare :)
